{"id":321,"date":"2014-01-21T17:09:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-21T17:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fabriquilla25.com\/?p=321"},"modified":"2015-04-29T19:04:57","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T19:04:57","slug":"gypsum-block-for-soil-moisture-sensor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fabriquilla25.com\/?p=321","title":{"rendered":"Gypsum block for Soil Moisture Sensor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Based on the previous experiences of Reinier Van der Lee related in his blog&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/vanderleevineyard.com\/\">http:\/\/vanderleevineyard.com<\/a>&nbsp;I have made my own version of the gypsum block.<\/p>\n<p>I made my firsts blocks in a very similar way that Reinier made before, but I started to think how to improve them, not really improve, because Reinier&#8217;s blocks works perfect, but I wanted to made them in an easier and methodic way.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMG_20140119_133333.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMG_20140119_133333.jpg\" height=\"480\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>So, this is the way my gypsum blocks are made:<\/p>\n<p>I have found a very cheap and easy to find matrix: Hair Curlers<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/2013-06-13-18.37.46.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/2013-06-13-18.37.46.jpg\" height=\"400\" width=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Once you take off the &#8220;skin&#8221; you get a nice matrix for the gypsum block:<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/rulo.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/rulo.jpg\" height=\"520\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>These curlers have approx 35mm of diameter. To complete the structure of the block I have designed and printed&nbsp;two pieces (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:228402\">can be found here<\/a>)&nbsp;in openScad that fits into the curler:<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/tapa_inferior_sensor.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/tapa_inferior_sensor.png\" height=\"369\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/tapa_superior_sensor.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.88\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/tapa_superior_sensor.png\" height=\"424\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The final step is to cut 2 pieces of 7cm. stainless steel m3 threaded rod (all the metal pieces are stainless steel quality) and put all together as can be seen in the first photo.<\/p>\n<p>To fill the matrix I cover the matrix with plastic film (the cooking one) and I pour the 50% plaster of paris 50% water (in volume) mix inside.
